In this statement, member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization express their grave concern regarding the escalation of tensions in the Middle East and strongly condemn the Israeli regime’s military strikes on the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran on June 13, 2025 (23 Khordad 1404).
The statement adds: Such aggressive actions targeting civilian sites, including nuclear and energy infrastructure, which have resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians, are a blatant violation of the principles and norms of international law and the United Nations Charter, and are considered an infringement on Iran’s sovereignty. These attacks undermine regional and international security and may have serious consequences for global peace and stability.
The SCO member states stress that the Iranian nuclear issue must be resolved solely through peaceful and diplomatic means.
The statement further conveys the sincere condolences and sympathy of the SCO members to the people and government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
