According to the Persian edition of ISNA, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), addressed the emergency session convened today to examine the Zionist regime’s assault on Iran’s nuclear facilities. He stated that since Friday’s attack, no further damage has been inflicted on the Natanz enrichment facility.
In his opening remarks, the written text of which was published on the IAEA website, Grossi said that four buildings were damaged in Isfahan during the attack, including the Central Chemical Laboratory, a uranium conversion plant, the Tehran Research Reactor Fuel Production Plant, and the UF4-to-EU metal processing facility.
Grossi noted: “The Agency is present in Iran and will remain so. Subject to safety conditions, safeguards inspections in Iran will continue as mandated under the country’s obligations under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).”
He added, “I am in contact with inspectors on the ground; their safety is our top priority, and all necessary measures are being taken to ensure their protection.”
Grossi warned that the escalation of military tensions is delaying vital diplomatic efforts aimed at ensuring that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons.
He also clarified that the Fordow uranium enrichment facility and the under-construction Khondab (Arak) heavy water reactor have not sustained any damage.
The Director General confirmed ongoing cooperation and information exchange between Iranian authorities and the Agency.
