The Glass Building (Sakhteman-e Shishei) of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), designed by Abdolaziz Farmanfarmaian, is one of the most prominent symbols of modern architecture in Iran.
Constructed in 1967, this structure is not merely a building but a symbol of transformation, modernization, and Iran’s entry into the era of modern architecture.
This building was partially completed in 1977 and 1978, and became operational between 1991-1992.
However, the building was set ablaze as a result of a missile attack carried out by the Zionist regime of Israel on June 16, 2025.
Israel launched a series of unprovoked missile strikes on civilian buildings across Iran on that day, killing dozens of civilians, including two IRIB employees in the Glass Building.
The explosion at the Glass Building occurred in full view of a global audience, as a live broadcast was underway at the time.
By carrying out such barbaric attacks, Israel has shown no regard for international law.
