According to the Persian edition of ISNA, Leon Panetta, former U.S. Defense Secretary and ex-CIA Director, told CNN: “If President Donald Trump decides to engage in military conflict with Iran in support of Israel, that’s when Washington will find itself in a regional war.”
Quoting TASS news agency, he added: “If Trump initiates an attack on Iran, there will be no doubt that the U.S. will be dragged into a regional war.”
Panetta also stated that he is convinced the U.S. made a “huge and terrible mistake” by starting the war in Iraq in 2003, and continued that Trump must now learn from that experience.
Earlier, Trump had said the U.S. is prepared to give Iran up to two weeks to resolve issues related to its nuclear program diplomatically, thereby avoiding U.S. attacks.
The Zionist regime’s aggression against Iran began on June 13 (23 Khordad), and Iran responded with a forceful counterattack within less than 24 hours, causing damages to the occupied territories that have raised concerns among Zionists about the continuation of the war.
