Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, who is in Turkey to participate in a two-day summit organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, addressed the audience with a firm and decisive speech.

The senior official condemned the U.S. attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear sites and emphasized Iran’s right to self-defense.
The text of his speech is as follows:

We call on the IAEA Board of Governors to immediately convene and fulfill its legal responsibility in response to the dangerous U.S. attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, all of which have been under the agency’s full safeguards and monitoring.
The world must not forget that it was the United States which, in the midst of efforts to forge a diplomatic outcome, betrayed diplomacy by supporting the genocidal Israeli regime’s launch of an illegal war of aggression against the Iranian nation.

Not content with such malign actions, the United States has also opted for a dangerous military operation — an act of aggression against the people of Iran. In doing so, the U.S. administration bears sole responsibility for the consequences of its actions, including the Islamic Republic of Iran’s right to self-defense under the principles of the United Nations Charter.

In accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions allowing legitimate self-defense, Iran reserves all options to defend its security, interests, and people.

We never trusted Western countries, and now we have many reasons not to trust them.
Our distrust of them has increased. Despite everything, the door to diplomacy remains open.
The U.S. attack has not inflicted major damage on Iran’s facilities. We have many options to respond to the U.S. attack, and I will not explain further.

The government of the U.S. has shown how much it is under Netanyahu’s control.

We have received messages from several sources in Washington. My negotiations with Witkoff have been indirect.
We know that Russia and China will present a resolution against the aggression toward Iran.
Last night’s aggression was not merely an attack on the Iranian people, but also on international law and the principles of the United Nations.

The attack was a major blow to global peace and security.

Last night’s attacks showed that the Zionist regime has failed to achieve its goals regarding Iran and is facing a severe crisis. The Zionist regime is backed by the U.S., and the U.S. is helping it.
The White House is under Netanyahu’s influence.
We will defend our nation like a hero. We must protect our dignity and territory.
As the German Chancellor — a supporter of the Israeli regime — described, Israel is doing dirty things.

I won’t announce what we will do in response to the U.S. I will meet with the Russian President tomorrow. We are constantly consulting with him.
The U.S. and the Israeli regime crossed red lines by attacking our nuclear facilities. The international community must respond to Trump’s threats.

Our nuclear program is peaceful and will remain peaceful.
Trump is threatening us with further attacks. The global community must safeguard international security.
Iran has been attacked by a nuclear power and a regime armed with nuclear weapons. Such an act must be condemned.
We are committed to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, but it cannot protect us at the moment.
We will never compromise our national sovereignty, territorial integrity, or our people.
My country has been attacked, and we must respond based on our right to legitimate self-defense.
