A U.S. lawmaker described the decision by the U.S. President to launch an aggressive attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities as beyond his war powers and a blatant act of aggression against another country.

According to the Persian edition of ISNA, U.S. lawmaker Sean Casten, in response to President Donald Trump’s aggressive action in ordering an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities following the Zionist regime’s violation of Iran’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, stated: “This has nothing to do with the nature of Iran’s nuclear program. No president has the authority to bomb another country that poses no imminent threat to the U.S. without Congressional approval. This is a clear act of aggression that opens the door to impeachment.”

Casten further criticized Trump’s actions, calling on House Speaker Mike Johnson, who was reportedly aware of Trump’s decision, to “show courage” and protect Congress’s war powers.

Johnson, in an attempt to justify Trump’s unilateral action, claimed that “Trump respects the Constitution.”

Meanwhile, Chris Murphy, a Democratic U.S. Senator who attended a government briefing on Iran, stated on social media that the U.S. President is lying about Iran’s nuclear program.

In a post on X, Murphy wrote: “I was briefed in the recent intelligence session. Iran posed no imminent threat of attacking the U.S. Iran was not close to building a nuclear weapon. Negotiations, which Israel disrupted with its attacks on Iran, were on the verge of success.”

He added: “Donald Trump, the U.S. President, is a dangerous, weak, and indecisive leader who has put the country on the path to another war in the Middle East—a war we don’t want, a war the law does not permit, and a war our security does not demand.”
