Seraj, who is also the deputy Judiciary chief for international affairs, made the remark in a letter to Volker Türk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, as the Israeli aggression against Iran entered its eleventh day on Monday.
The Iranian official condemned Israeli attacks on civilian buildings as well as medical and media centers, saying that the attacks not only represent an unlawful act but also amount to war crimes based on Article 8 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, according to a press release by the High Council for Human Rights.
The attacks are also a breach of fundamental principles and international humanitarian rights, he added.
On June 19, 2025, the Israeli regime intentionally launched an attack on the headquarters of Iran’s national television, known as the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (I.R.I.B.), seeking to disrupt the dissemination of information on its aggression against Iran, he said.
The regime separately conducted attacks on medical centers and buildings of the Iranian Red Crescent Society as well as civilian areas, added the official.
Seraj urged Türk to hold Israel accountable over the aggression and its devastating consequences.
Since the start of its aggression on Iran on June 13, Israel has also struck nuclear facilities of Iran, among other civilian targets. The regime has also assassinated several top military officials and nuclear scientists, in addition to taking civilian lives in its daily attacks.
The United States, in an unprovoked act, joined Israel in the aggression against Iran on June 22 as it bombed nuclear sites of Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow early that year.
Iran has strongly denounced the violation of its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, saying that it will take all necessary and appropriate measures to protect its people, and land in accordance with international law.
