The spokesman for the Commission of Foreign Policy and National Security of Iran’s Parliament said that the details of the bill requiring the government to suspend its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency have been approved.

In this session, the details of the bill requiring the government to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) were approved.

According to this bill, considering the attacks carried out against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran by the Zionist regime and the United States targeting the country’s peaceful nuclear facilities — and the endangerment of the interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran as stated in Article 10 of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) — and based on Article 60 of the 1969 Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties, the government is obliged to suspend all cooperation with the IAEA under the NPT and its related safeguards until certain conditions are met.

The spokesperson for the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission emphasized: According to this bill, those conditions include complete assurance that the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran — as per the UN Charter and as determined by the Supreme National Security Council — are fully respected; that Iran’s inherent rights to benefit from all provisions of Article 4 of the NPT, especially uranium enrichment, have been upheld to the satisfaction of the Supreme National Security Council; and that full assurance is obtained regarding the non-activation of the snapback mechanism outlined in UN Security Council Resolution 2231.
This bill will be submitted to the open session of the Parliament for further review.
