Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has emphasized that while Iran is committed to peace, it will never bow to humiliation or aggression.

Speaking on Saturday at the funeral ceremony for Iranian civilians killed in recent Israeli military strikes—an event that coincided with the second day of Muharram—Baqaei underlined the symbolic significance of the occasion. He noted that the first ten days of Muharram, which mark the martyrdom of the third Shia Imam, Hossein (AS), are observed with deep mourning and reflection across Iran.

He stated that the Iranian people, drawing inspiration from the values of dignity and sacrifice rooted in the Ashura tradition, have always stood firm in the face of threats.

Baqaei added that the massive turnout at the funeral processions was a powerful demonstration of national pride and solidarity.
“Iran has always been a peace-loving nation throughout history,” he said, “but it has never accepted humiliation.”

The funeral procession for those who lost their lives in the Israeli strikes began in Tehran, the capital of the Islamic Republic, with President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, and several other senior officials in attendance.

The ceremony started at 8:00 a.m. local time in Enghelab Square, where hundreds of thousands gathered to mourn the victims of the 12-day war waged by the Israeli regime against Iran.
