Amir Saeed Iravani, Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, in a letter to the Secretary -General of the United Nations, reacted to the shameful remarks and threats by the senior officials of the United States and the Zionist regime against the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Part of the letter reads:
“On June 26, 2025, the Zionist regime’s Minister of Defense, in an interview with Israeli media outlets, threatened the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and exposed the plots of the regime for his assassination. These shameful and illegal remarks were made in full coordination with the remarks by the President of the United States, which were as shameful as those of Israel: for the first time on June 18 and once more on June 27, 2025. The President of the United States described Iran’s Supreme Leader as an “easy target” and announced that “at least at the current moment we do not want to eliminate him.” He also claimed that “he prevented Israel or the armed forces of the United States from ending his life.”
“Such purposeful and reckless remarks by senior officials of a country are a serious violation of the U.N. Charter, in particular Article 2 (4); an article of law which prohibits any threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political sovereignty of a nation. These threats also violate the known principles of international law, including the principle of political immunity of the heads of countries and constitute an overt example of triggering state terrorism.”
“In addition to that, anti-terrorism international conventions and several resolutions of the General Assembly and the United Nations Security Council have repeatedly emphasized that terrorism is unjustifiable and a criminal act in any form, regardless of its motivations and roots.”
