Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Sa’eed Iravani, says any negotiation will be impossible with the United States under duress and while it wants to dictate its policies on the Islamic Republic.

“Negotiation has its principles, and it is a give and take process. So we should engage in the negotiation and discuss with each other, maybe we reach to a conclusion or not, but the unconditional surrender is not negotiation,” Iravani said in an interview with CBS News, which was aired on Sunday.

He further said that if Washington wants to talk with Tehran, “they will find us ready for that, but if they want to dictate us, it is impossible for any negotiation with them.”

Iravani condemned U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to assassinate Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as a “gross violation of international law,” arguing that under international law, heads of state have immunity from any attack.

He also reaffirmed Iran’s right to uranium enrichment under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), saying the country’s enrichment program will not stop even after the United States’ act of aggression against Iran’s nuclear sites.

The U.S. bombed three key nuclear sites in Iran, namely Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan on June 22, becoming directly involved in Israel’s war of aggression that had begun nine days earlier.
