July 4 on the Iranian calendar marks National Damavand Day. Damavand, standing at 5,610 meters, is the highest summit in Iran and the Middle East. This volcanic peak is located in the Alborz mountain range and is recognized as the tallest volcano in Asia.

Damavand also holds deep historical and mythological significance. In Iranian literature, it is regarded as a symbol of strength and resistance.
The name Damavand is closely associated with Arash, a mythological figure who represents altruism, bravery, and love for the homeland.

According to legend, Arash, a skilled archer, climbed Mount Damavand and fired an arrow eastward with all his strength to mark the borders of Iran.

Iranians celebrate Damavand Day to honor heroism and patriotism.
