Pezehkian made the remarks on Friday night after returning from the 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit in the Azerbaijani city of Khankendi.
According to Pezeshkian, the “condemnation raised by Iran was met with firm support from other members.”
ECO ‘serious symbol of neighborliness diplomacy’
Also, in a post on his X account on Friday, Pezeshkian thanked “the responsible positions of the countries of the region by protesting the aggression against Iranian territory.”
“For us, ECO is a serious symbol of neighborliness diplomacy and at the forefront of multilateral economic diplomacy,” he added.
“Together, we can achieve our vision for trade, transit, digital innovation, tourism, and resilience by 2035,” he further said.
On June 13, Israel launched a blatant and unprovoked act of aggression against Iran, assassinating many high-ranking military commanders and nuclear scientists.
The massive strikes on Iranian territory, which lasted for 12 days, focused on nuclear-related facilities as well as civilian sites. These attacks also caused over 900 civilian fatalities.
In response, the Iranian armed forces, led by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), launched a powerful and unprecedented retaliatory campaign, Operation True Promise III, against the Israeli regime, using many of its domestically developed new-generation missiles for the first time.
Hundreds of Iranian ballistic missiles and drones overwhelmed Israeli air defenses and struck key military, intelligence, industrial, energy, and R&D facilities across the occupied Palestinian territories.

On the sidelines of the summit, Pezeshkian also met and held talks with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, and President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon.
Referring to his meetings with heads of different neighboring countries, Pezeshkian stated that these trips and exchanges could pave the way for strengthening relations with Iran.
“These interactions should not be limited to the level of leaders, and it is necessary for deputies and ministers also to put the follow-up of the understandings reached on their agenda,” he said.
The 17th ECO summit, which took place in Khankendi, Azerbaijan, on Friday, brought together heads of state and government officials to reinforce cooperation and chart a vision for peace, prosperity, and stability in Central and South Asia, the Caucasus, and West Asia.
Founded in 1985 by Iran, Turkey, and Pakistan, the ECO has since expanded to include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Today, it serves as a major platform for regional economic integration..
