Thousands of mourners took part in Ashura Day ceremonies in London, United Kingdom. The day marks the martyrdom anniversary of the 3rd Shia Imam, Imam Hussain (AS), and his 72 companions in Karbala, Iraq, about 1,400 years ago.

Shia Muslims across the world mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Ashura martyrs during the first 10 days of Muharram every year. Ashura is a symbol of resistance against arrogance and the domination of tyrants, as well as a celebration of freedom.

During the ceremonies held in London to commemorate Ashura, photos of those martyred in the 12-day war imposed on Iran by Israel were also displayed, as a tribute to those who lost their lives because of tyranny and arrogance.
