Tehran-Ankara train route to launch in two months

Zakeri announced that the Van-Tehran train, which had been suspended for five years, has resumed operations, and the Tehran-Ankara line will be launched in the coming months. He also stated that the opening of the Tehran-Herat railway is currently on the agenda.
The deputy minister noted that plans to establish train services to Marv (in Turkmenistan) and Dushanbe (the capital of Tajikistan) are already underway. He added that the seating capacity of the national railway fleet has increased by 15 percent.
As part of a state-backed initiative, around 600 cargo wagons are scheduled to be imported, 100 of which have already arrived in Iran. The remaining wagons will be delivered gradually, with 40 to 50 wagons expected to arrive each month.
Zakeri further revealed that Iran and China have signed a contract to jointly produce passenger trains. “The financial arrangements have been finalized, and production will begin very soon,” he said.
