Second Brigadier General Fouladi, head of the Sports Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, said during the opening ceremony of the 4th World Military Mountaineering Event (CISM 2025) that “for the third time, Iran is hosting the event ‘Ascending for Peace.’ The program shows how the bonds of friendship among military personnel can grow even at high altitudes.”
He continued: “This year, Mount Damavand, the highest point on the Iranian plateau and a symbol of steadfastness in Iran’s ancient literature, is hosting a group of military personnel from around the world to present a scientific concept of synergy in sport to the world.”
Noting that “ascending Damavand is not merely an exercise to increase military potential,” the official said that the program carries a message of peace and friendship among the participating countries. “The diverse flags lining the path to Mount Damavand are a symbol reflecting that, along with maintaining military preparedness, the spirit of chivalry and peace-seeking can be strengthened among military personnel.”
Second Brigadier General Omidi, head of the Physical Education Organization of Iran’s Army, also said: “The resonance of peace and friendship from the majestic peak of Damavand to different parts of the world is an indication of our joint call with nations that wish to live in a peaceful world free from conflict.”
Representatives from the armies of Armenia, Turkey, Bangladesh, Iraq, and Syria are participating in the five-day event, which runs until Wednesday.
