Iranian U-16 basketball team crowns West Asia champions

In a historic achievement, the Iranian girls’ under-16 basketball team claimed the championship title at the West Asia Basketball Association (WABA) Qualifiers U-16 Girls for the first time, defeating Lebanon 41 to 38 in a thrilling final match.

The victory marks a significant milestone for the team, which had previously lost to Lebanon 47 to 37 in their last preliminary match.

Not only did they win the West Asia championship, but the Iranian team also earned a coveted spot in the upcoming under-16 Asia Cup competitions. This will be the first time that the girls from Iran participate in the Asia Cup.

Throughout the tournament, the Iranian team demonstrated impressive skill and teamwork, having previously achieved victories against Jordan and Syria in the preliminary rounds.
