President Pezeshkian arrives in Pakistan’s Lahore

Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has arrived in Lahore, the historic capital of Punjab Province, leading a high-level delegation.

Upon his arrival at Allama Iqbal International Airport, the Iranian president was warmly welcomed by Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab, along with several senior Pakistani officials and Mehran Movahedfar, Iran’s Consul General in Lahore.

President Pezeshkian is scheduled to engage in discussions with the chief minister of Punjab before visiting the tomb of the renowned poet Muhammad Iqbal. After this significant cultural visit, he will proceed to Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.

During the two-day visit, Pezeshkian is scheduled to meet with senior Pakistani officials and the sign several cooperation documents. This visit marks the fifth official meeting between the officials of the two nations in the past year, highlighting the strengthening ties between Iran and Pakistan.

During the visit, the officials of the two countries will focus on redefining economic and trade relations, enhancing regional cooperation, and collaborating on security and political matters.

They will also exchange views on current regional developments, including the situation in Gaza, the Middle East, and the implications of recent aggressions by the Israeli regime against Iran.

Additionally, planning for an upcoming meeting of the Joint Economic Commission of Iran and Pakistan in Tehran will be a key topic of discussions between Iranian and Pakistani officials.
