Pakistan’s FM highlights Islamabad’s deep commitment to its historic ties with Tehran

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, has reaffirmed the country’s deep commitment to its historic and brotherly ties with Iran.

In a press release on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan detailed the meeting held between President Masoud Pezeshkian and Dar, in Islamabad.

The meeting took place on Sunday, the second day of the Iranian president’s official visit to Pakistan. The two officials met at the hotel where Pezeshkian and his accompanying delegation are staying during their visit to the capital of the neighboring country.

Welcoming the Iranian president, Dar reaffirmed Islamabad’s deep commitment to its historic and brotherly ties with Tehran, emphasizing their strong foundations in shared history, common cultural heritage, faith, and mutual respect.

President Pezeshkian appreciated Pakistan’s support and reaffirmed Iran’s resolve to improve bilateral collaboration in various areas of shared interest.

He also looked forward to meaningful discussions with Pakistani leaders to further reinforce the political and economic ties between the two friendly nations.

In an interview with IRNA correspondent in Islamabad, Dar said both countries plan to elevate their annual trade exchanges to $10 billion.

Iran, Pakistan sign 12 cooperation documents across various sectors

Iran and Pakistan have signed 12 cooperation documents covering a wide range of areas, including science and technology, transportation and transit, trade and economy, tourism, and agriculture.

The agreements were signed in Islamabad on Sunday in a ceremony attended by the top officials of both countries, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, following a joint high-level meeting between the two delegations.

The documents aim to lay the groundwork for enhanced bilateral cooperation and include judicial and legal affairs, industrial collaboration, cultural heritage, and regional synergy.

They will help facilitate knowledge exchange, boost commercial capacity, and strengthen people-to-people ties between the two neighbors.

Pezeshkian arrived in Islamabad on Saturday at the head of a high-ranking political-economic delegation. He was welcomed by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif upon arrival.
