Mohammad Atabak, Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, while noting that tariffs on 87 percent of goods traded between Iran and Armenia have been reduced to zero since May, spoke about the potential for further increasing commercial exchanges.

“With the arrangements that have been made, Iran has been accepted as a Permanent Observer to the Eurasian Economic Union, and efforts are underway to expand trade with our neighbors, with Armenia being the most important as it serves as the gateway to the Eurasian Union. Since May of this year, we have implemented measures to reduce tariffs on 87 percent of goods traded between the two countries to zero,” Atabak said after a meeting with the Armenian Minister of Economy and Industry.
“Iran and Armenia, through the trade agreement with the EAEU, have already begun commercial exchanges, and the growth trajectory continues. From the perspective of trade value with Eurasian countries, we are constantly reviewing the agreement and aim to further raise the level of trade,” he added, highlighting the growth in trade between Iran and Armenia.
“We also agreed to establish a joint committee including the deputies of the Ministries of Economy and Industry to finalize the remaining provisions of the agreement. This will also set up a clearing system between the customs offices of the two countries. Our goal is to reach a standardized framework that will allow businessmen to trade goods more easily,” Atabak explained after his meeting with the Armenian Minister of Economy and Industry.
