During a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to visit Belarus, stating: “We will discuss and reach understandings on issues of mutual interest and ways to accelerate the use of shared capacities.”
He noted that Iran and Belarus, in addition to their friendly ties, share similar views on many regional and international issues and have maintained constructive cooperation in global forums. Pezeshkian added: “The Eurasian Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS provide frameworks and platforms to facilitate and expand constructive interaction between the two countries.”
Highlighting the broad common ground between the two nations, the president described it as an opportunity to fully implement existing agreements and strengthen cooperation at both regional and international levels. He also said: “Today, the U.S. and certain European countries are attempting to expand unilateralism and impose their views on others. Such an approach is unacceptable to both of us.”
Pezeshkian stressed that Western nations, led by the United States, are trying to dictate their path to others, but emphasized: “Iran and Belarus have proven that they lack nothing compared to countries seeking dominance through sanctions, and they can overcome such challenges through serious cooperation.”
Belarusian President, while warmly welcoming Dr. Pezeshkian and his accompanying delegation, said: “Belarus has always been a friendly and reliable partner for Iran.”
Lukashenko added, “You have come to a friendly country. We assure you that through the spirit of friendship and interaction prevailing over our relations, we can expand cooperation and resolve any challenges that may arise in the future.”
He also recalled his pleasant memories of visiting Tehran — particularly his meeting with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution — and asked Dr. Pezeshkian to convey his best regards to the Leader. Lukashenko stressed: “I believe no path of our development is closed. We can engage in dialogue on issues of mutual interest and elevate our relations to the highest levels.”

Iran attaches great importance to Belarus ties: Pezeshkian
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Wednesday that his country attaches great importance to the development of its relations with Belarus.
President Masoud Pezeshkian made the remarks during a meeting of high-ranking delegations of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Belarus in Minsk on Wednesday where he also expressed his appreciation for the clear and firm stances of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in condemning the aggression by the Zionist regime and the United States on the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its peaceful nuclear facilities.
“The Zionist regime and the United States in clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, invaded the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran; the attacks occurred in the midst of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States on the nuclear issue. The Islamic Republic of Iran has never initiated war or aggression, but in the event of any aggression by the enemies, it will give a decisive and deterrent response,” said the president.
He later said that Tehran attaches great importance to the development of its relations with Belarus, stressing that “I will personally follow up on the agreements between the two countries. The current volume of trade exchanges is insignificant compared to the existing potential and that must be improved. The relations between the two nations must be deeper and be based on a more sustainable foundation.”
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko officially welcomed his Iranian counterpart earlier on Wednesday. In a post on social media while visiting Belarus, as the second leg of his trip after the trip to Armenia, the Iranian president described his visit as marking a turning point in Tehran-Minsk ties, which will yield remarkable achievements.
