“Thought the G in MAGA meant ‘Great,’ not a ‘Grotesque’ failure to observe minimal civility with guests. Hope the Europeans got something in return for massaging Trump’s ego; Netanyahu’s reward for nominating him for a Nobel Prize was having his whims placed above U.S. interests.”
Zarif’s remarks followed the publication of a photo from the meeting between Trump and the leaders of the UK, Germany, Ukraine, France, and Italy.
The photo sparked controversy on social media, as it appeared to show the European leaders seated before Trump as if he were instructing them.
Following the release of the image, social media users began posting content with hashtags such as “inferior,” “slave,” and “loser” to highlight what many saw as a lack of equality between the U.S. and Europe.
