Iran claims runner-up in karate with 22 medals

Iranian representatives at the Asian Karate Championships for cadets, juniors, and under-21 categories finished as runners-up with a total of 22 medals.

The Asian Karate Championships for the youth categories concluded today with the under-21 (U21) competitions. Iranian athletes won 4 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze medal in this final stage.

On the last day, Yalda Naghdi Birānand, Mehrnegar Ahmadi, Hananeh Salehi, and Hossein Vafa secured gold medals. Mohammad Javad Safari, Abolfazl Hamdamjo, and Fatemeh Zahra Saeedabadi claimed silver, while Mahan Mirzaei took bronze.

Including the results from the cadet and junior categories, Team Iran finished the tournament with 7 gold, 9 silver, and 6 bronze medals, placing second overall in the medal standings behind the Samurais and claiming the title of Asian runner-up. Japan secured the championship with 12 gold, 2 silver, and 5 bronze medals, while Kazakhstan ranked third with 4 gold, 3 silver, and 10 bronze medals.
