The head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization addressed the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency, saying that Iran will continue interactions with the agency through new arrangements and by removing security concerns.

Mohammad Eslami made the remarks while delivering a speech at the IAEA General Conference underway in Vienna. He noted that cooperation with the agency has been very broad. However, he said that Iran will never yield to pressures and will maintain its nuclear rights.

“Iran’s nuclear knowledge and industry will not be destroyed through military operations, assassinations, or intimidation,” he said.

The official added that Iran is still a member of the NPT; therefore, its cooperation with the agency will continue to address the country’s security concerns and those related to nuclear facilities through new arrangements.

Eslami regarded the recent attacks by Israel and the U.S. on Iran’s nuclear facilities as a blatant violation of international law, the UN Charter, and the Statutes of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He emphasized that this unprecedented action was not only against Iran but also undermined the IAEA’s credibility and the safeguards system.

He said that the Agency and the Security Council had failed to react firmly to the incident due to U.S. pressure, which has raised serious questions about the credibility of the safeguards.
“Iran and the IAEA have cooperated extensively, and there is no evidence of any nuclear deviation by Iran,” Eslami said, criticizing the Agency’s silence in condemning the attacks and describing the suspension of inspections as a consequence of security concerns.

Eslami recalled the lack of commitments by Western parties to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and announced Iran’s strong opposition to the activation of the snapback mechanism by the three European countries. He also called for the termination of Resolution 2231 in accordance with the scheduled timeline of October 18, 2025.

He expressed appreciation to the countries that stood by Iran and called for the official condemnation of the attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Eslami said that a draft resolution condemning the attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities had been presented. “The draft is entirely based on safeguarding the Agency’s mission, fully consistent with the Agency’s Statutes, adherence to fundamental international law, and the UN Charter,” he said.

Eslami stressed that, given the professional and principled stance of many independent IAEA member states, Iran expects the General Conference of the Agency – as the representative of the collective will of all member states – to take proper action in response to these illegal attacks.
