The head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, who has traveled to Moscow to participate in a program dedicated to World Atom Week, said that Iran and Russia will sign bilateral cooperation documents.

Pointing to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s plan to generate 20,000 megawatts of electricity through the development of nuclear power plants, Mohammad Eslami noted that agreements have been reached between the two countries, with Russia assigned a specific share in this development process.

Eslami, currently in Moscow, added that he will visit factories involved in the contracts and hold meetings with scientific and research institutes to enhance cooperation in education and research.

Referring to the meeting between the Iranian and Russian presidents in December 2024, Eslami said that Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized in his talks with President Pezeshkian that energy is the most important field of cooperation between the two countries, particularly the construction of nuclear power plants. “Given this, the trip is of great importance,” he said.

He noted that the second and third units of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant are under construction in cooperation with Russia.

“This project is a priority for both the Iranian and Russian governments, and the emphasis of the two sides has accelerated its progress,” he said.
