The grape harvest has started in the vineyards of Dena County in Iran’s Kohgiluyeh-Boyerahmad Province and orchards across West Azarbaijan Province, and will continue until mid-October.

Mohammad-Reza Asghari, the head of West Azarbaijan Province’s Agricultural Jihad, said that grape harvesting has started in 22,000 hectares of orchards.
The official said that 220,000 tons of grapes are predicted to be produced across the province, of which 192,000 tons are produced through dry farming.
“West Azarbaijan Province ranks 4th in Iran in terms of grape production,” said the official, noting that every year more than 410 tons are used to produce verjuice.
More than 60 types of grapes are produced in West Azarbaijan Province. Recently, exported varieties of grapes have also started to be grown in the province.
