Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei firmly dismissed the baseless allegations raised in the joint statement of the PGCC-UK foreign ministers’ meeting regarding the three Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf.

He stressed Iran’s absolute sovereignty over the Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa as an inseparable part of the country’s territorial integrity, reiterating that these islands have always been and will remain part of Iran.

The Iranian senior diplomat underlined that leveling unfounded claims in political statements will never change the geographical, historical, and legal realities.

Rejecting the interventionist language of the statement, the spokesman emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran, in exercising its sovereign rights, will take all necessary measures to ensure safety and security on these Iranian islands and safeguard the country’s interests within their domain.

The PGCC is expected to focus on regional cooperation to strengthen mutual trust among countries and prevent destabilizing actors, such as the UK, from interfering in the Persian Gulf, instead of repeating baseless claims or enabling destructive interventions, Baghaei added.
