President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed Iran’s steadfastness in the face of international pressure, declaring that surrender is not in the nature of the Iranian people.

Speaking on Tuesday at a ceremony honoring Iran’s national freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling teams following their championship triumph at the World Competitions in Croatia, Pezeshkian hailed the athletes’ achievements as a source of national pride and societal motivation.

He added, “We must always strive to keep pace with our competitors and avoid falling behind. You, as young athletes, have shown that you are dedicated to elevating our country and have a deep passion for our homeland.”

Referring to the imposition of sanctions and economic restrictions against the country, the president said, “We need to recognize our own capabilities. When we rely on our own abilities and work towards our goals, we will achieve them.”

Pezeshkian also added, “Although we are currently in a difficult situation, we are taking measures, including improving our relations with neighboring countries.”
