Government Spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani announced that the Cabinet will approve a comprehensive plan this Sunday to address the so-called snapback mechanism.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of Wednesday’s Cabinet session, Mohajerani said the administration and the diplomatic apparatus have exerted all efforts to prevent the activation of the snapback mechanism by Western countries.

She underlined that Iran had long considered such unlawful measures and accordingly developed a strategic framework to counter them. “The plan will be finalized and adopted on Sunday,” she noted.

The snapback mechanism, invoked unilaterally by Western powers despite international objections, seeks to reinstate UN sanctions lifted under the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA). Iran has repeatedly rejected the move as illegitimate, stressing that Tehran fulfilled its commitments while the US abandoned the accord and Europeans failed to meet their obligations.

The upcoming government plan signals Tehran’s readiness to neutralize the political and economic pressures tied to the mechanism, ensuring continuity of national resilience and safeguarding Iran’s sovereign rights.

Iranian officials have repeatedly emphasized that the government remains fully committed to defending the rights and interests of the Iranian people in the face of hostile moves, underscoring that the snapback lacks legal basis under UN Security Council Resolution 2231.
