Avash News: In a letter to President Masoud Pezeshkian, Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf announced the law under which the administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran will join the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism, in accordance with Article 123 of the Constitution.
Iran’s Expediency Council approved Iran’s accession to the CFT under certain conditions. Explaining these conditions, Mohsen Dehnavi, the spokesperson for the Expediency Council, stated that on September 30 “Iran’s Parliament will implement the provisions of the Convention based on its Constitutional Law.” He added that the Expediency Council introduced an additional condition, according to which Iran would implement the Convention within the framework of its national laws.
Dehnavi further emphasized that if any provisions of the Convention contradict the domestic laws of the Islamic Republic, the national laws of the Islamic Republic shall prevail.
He concluded that, based on these two conditions, Iran will join the CFT to combat the financing of terrorism.
