Iranian wrestlers grabbed two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals in the competition held from October 24 to 27 in Novi Sad, a city on the banks of the Danube River.
The final tally showed the United States took home the team title with 137 points, Iran came in second with 127 points, and Japan came third with 85 points.
Mohammadmobin Azimi won gold in the 92 kg weight category after defeating Mukhamed Khaniev of Russia with a score of 5-3 in the final.
In the 125 kg weight category, Abolfazl Mohammadnejad, grabbed the gold in the final match against Khetag Karsanov of the Republic of Azerbaijan with a score of 11-0.
Milad Valizadeh, lost to Luke Lilledahl from the United States with a score of 11-5 in the quarter final of 57 kg category but advanced to the ranking match after defeating Liao Hongzhou from China. He finally overcame Russia’s Ayandai Ondar with a score of 10-1 and won the bronze medal.
In the 70 kg category, Sina Khalili advanced to the final after defeating Alexander Gaidarli from Moldova with a score of 8-2. Khalili lost to Kanan Hibetov from Azerbaijan in the final and won the silver medal.
In the 79 kg category, Mehdi Yousefi, won the bronze medal after defeating Davud Davudov from Russia with a score of 13-3.
Abolfazl Rahmani, who lost to lost to Eugen Mihalchan from Moldova in the semifinals, overcame Rakhim Magamadov from France with a score of 7-5 and won the bronze medal.
