Avash News: Speaking at his weekly press briefing, Esmaeil Baghaei said that Trump’s remarks serve as one of the clearest and most recent pieces of evidence proving the military aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“We had no doubt about this matter. From the very beginning of the war, we knew that the United States was actively involved in the aggression against Iran. In this sense, it is not a new development. However, the fact that the U.S. president has publicly confessed to ordering military action against Iran clearly indicates the U.S. administration’s responsibility for these crimes,” the spokesman stated.
U.S. Shows No Real Will to Reach an Agreement with Iran
The senior Iranian official said that while Americans claim they seek a deal with Iran, their actions show otherwise. “They say they want an agreement, but in reality, they do not take any practical steps toward achieving one,” he noted.
Asked about President Trump’s claim regarding Kazakhstan’s possible accession to the Abraham Accords and the ongoing crimes in Gaza and the region, Baghaei said, “We fundamentally believe that a regime which continues to commit genocide and criminal acts in Gaza does not deserve recognition or normalization.”
He added that viewing the Zionist regime through a lens of normalization would only embolden it to commit further crimes.
Baghaei emphasized that the issue is therefore rejected in principle, noting that diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and the Zionist regime have existed for nearly three decades.
“The United States is trying to militarize and dramatize the main issue — the ongoing occupation by the Zionist regime — through theatrical political gestures. This only increases the responsibility of other nations. They must not allow the core issue to fade into oblivion or the root cause of the problem to be forgotten,” the spokesman concluded.
Consular Activities with Australia Reduced
The senior Iranian official said that consular activities between Iran and Australia have significantly decreased. “We have been informed that Australia will handle its consular affairs through other friendly countries,” he noted.
Americans Are Paying the Price for the Zionist Regime’s Crimes
Baghaei said that the election of Zohran Mamdani as the new mayor of New York reflected the growing opposition among Americans to the crimes committed by the Zionist regime.
“The U.S. election is a domestic matter, but the messages conveyed by the results and by those who were elected are deeply thought-provoking,” he said.
“One clear message is that American public opinion is dissatisfied with the crimes committed by the Zionist regime in Palestine. People in U.S. are paying the price — in their dignity and property — for the sake of the Zionist regime,” Baghaei added.
He described this development as evidence of a widening divide in U.S. society and a form of collective protest against Washington’s bullying policies on the international stage.
U.S. Military Presence in the Region Fuels Instability
Commenting on reports of the imminent deployment of additional U.S. forces to Syria, Baghaei said, “We have repeatedly stated that any U.S. military presence in the region will only contribute to instability.”
“Their presence serves merely as a cover for looting Syria’s national wealth and perpetuating instability. It serves no purpose other than protecting the interests of the occupying regime and spreading insecurity,” he stressed.
U.S. Claims to Seek a Deal, but Takes No Action
Baghaei referred to former President Trump’s recent remarks, in which he acknowledged U.S. involvement in attacks against Iran and said that “Iran really wants an agreement; they are good negotiators and truly want a deal.”
However, Baghaei said, “Despite such statements, the American side shows no real intention to reach an agreement and has taken no practical steps in this regard.”
Iran–Europe Relations Go Beyond the Nuclear Issue
Baghaei emphasized that Iran’s interactions with Europe are not confined to the nuclear issue.
“The Europeans misused the JCPOA’s dispute resolution mechanism — a mistake that negatively affected the negotiation process,” he said.
“Nevertheless, Iran’s diplomatic relations with European countries continue in various fields. Iranian embassies in Europe remain active, and European ambassadors are present in Tehran,” he concluded.
