Iranian Foreign Minister: IAEA must avoid measures leading to escalation

Referring to Iran’s continued cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency and rejecting the so-called snapback claimed by certain Western countries, Iran’s Foreign Minister emphasized that the IAEA must remain neutral and avoid any actions that could lead to escalation.

Avash News: In a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, Seyed Abbas Araghchi discussed the latest bilateral, regional, and international developments.

The senior Iranian official underlined the need to continue and expedite dialogue and cooperation within the joint regional framework, pointing to ongoing initiatives and diplomatic consultations.

Araghchi reiterated Iran’s sustained cooperation with the IAEA and dismissed the snapback claims made by some Western governments. He stressed that the agency must remain impartial and refrain from measures that could heighten tensions.

Lavrov, referring to Russia’s efforts at the United Nations to support the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, underlined that any action undermining this right is unacceptable.
The two officials also discussed the upcoming meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors and agreed on coordinated positions and joint cooperation within the framework.

The foreign ministers further reviewed and followed up on bilateral cooperation and consular issues between the two countries.
