Iran celebrated a double triumph at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh on Wednesday, as Olympic champion Mohammad Hadi Saravi and heavyweight contender Fardin Hedayati each captured Greco-Roman wrestling gold medals to extend the nation’s dominance on the mat.

Greco-Roman competitions at the sixth edition of the Games continued in the Saudi capital with the medal rounds in the 97kg and 130kg categories.

Saravi, a world champion and Olympic gold medalist, defeated his Azerbaijani opponent in the 97kg final to secure Iran’s third Greco-Roman title of the tournament. Earlier, Saeed Esmaeili and Gholamreza Farrokhi had also won gold for Iran.

Later in the day, Hedayati added to the tally by overcoming Egypt’s Mohamed Abdel Latif in the 130kg final, clinching Iran’s fourth Greco-Roman gold medal of the Games.
