Avash News: Statistics published by the Tehran Customs Office show that roughly 28 tons of hand-woven silk carpets, worth $3.16 million, were exported during this period.
Austria, Jordan, Australia, Germany, the UAE, the UK, Bahrain, Italy, Thailand, Bulgaria, Turkey, the Czech Republic, China, Denmark, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland, Sweden, France, Qatar, Canada, Hungary, New Zealand, India, and Hong Kong were among the buyers of Persian carpets.
Germany was the primary buyer, importing 18 tons of full-silk, hand-woven Iranian carpets valued at $1.6 million. The UAE ranked second, purchasing 4 tons worth $1.19 million.
Other notable buyers included China (1.3 tons valued at $400,000), Japan (2.4 tons valued at $623,000), the Czech Republic (184 kg valued at $46,000), and Canada (521 kg valued at $30,000).
Carpet weaving is one of the most iconic symbols of Iranian culture, with a history dating back thousands of years, and remains highly popular among international buyers. However, experts say this valuable craft deserves greater attention from relevant authorities to ensure proper global recognition, as carpets from other countries are sometimes marketed internationally under the name of Iranian carpets.
