Legendary Iranian Singer, “The Nightingale of Gilan,” passes away

Renowned Iranian vocalist Naser Masoudi passed away on Thursday.

Avash News: Born in 1935 in the Seyghalan district of Gilan Province in northern Iran, Masoudi was widely known as “the Nightingale of Gilan” and is regarded as the oldest singer of Gilaki poetry. Among his most celebrated works is “Mirza Kuchak Khan,” a song about the commander of Iran’s Forest Movement during the Constitutional Revolution.

Over five decades of artistic activity, Masoudi produced more than 500 songs—over 200 in Persian and more than 250 in the Gilaki dialect.
His warm, resonant voice earned him national recognition across Iran.
