In the autumn of 1404 (2025), Tehran experienced only six days of clean air, while more than half of the days were spent in unhealthy conditions. This silent crisis, beyond eye irritation and shortness of breath, comes at the cost of human lives: estimates suggest that air pollution accounts for around 40,000 to 54,000 deaths annually in Iran—meaning that every day, dozens of families lose their loved ones amid smoke and indifference.

Avash News: These images, by Mohammad Berno, are not only a view of the city but also a visual record of the human and economic toll of this disaster—a crisis that imposes billions of dollars in annual healthcare costs and economic losses on the capital, while the most basic right of the people to breathe continues to be ignored.
