Avash News: While Catholic and Protestant Christians celebrate the birthday anniversary of Jesus Christ on December 24, Armenian Orthodox Christians celebrate both his birthday and Christmas on January 6.
Coinciding with January 6, the historic Bethlehem Church in Iran’s Isfahan Province hosted the Armenian Orthodox religious ceremony of “Mass, Communion, and Blessing of Water.”
An important part of the ceremony included chanting religious hymns and reciting verses from the Holy Book to reflect on the life of Jesus Christ.
During another part of the ceremony, “blessed water mixed with holy oil” was distributed among the attendees.
The ceremony also included the ritual of Communion or Thanksgiving, held in remembrance of the Last Supper, during which bread — symbolizing the body of Jesus — was distributed among the participants.
