Avash News: Abbas Araghchi, who was delivering a speech at a gathering of ambassadors to Tehran on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Republic Revolution, said that there is a wall of distrust regarding the United States.
He, however, said that Iran pursues real negotiations to reach a result, on the condition that the other side is serious about the negotiations as well.
Araghchi expressed hope that trust will be built so that they can reach a result.
Iran’s senior official said he is sorry that the diplomatic community residing in Tehran suffered over the last year.
He said that both during the 12-day war and during the recent unrest in Iran, diplomats faced difficulties such as internet blackouts.
Araghchi expressed hope that next year will be the year of peace and the victory of diplomacy over war.
The Iranian top official said that close cooperation with neighbors is Iran’s policy.
Araghchi pointed to recent unrest in Iran and said that something like a coup happened on January 8 and 9.
“Maybe just one of such happenings is enough for a nation, but we experienced both of them back to back,” Araghchi said.
Addressing the ambassadors, Araghchi said that the 12-day war was an important phenomenon and, as you remember, there were people who wanted us to surrender unconditionally. “The same people asked for a ceasefire on the 12th day,” he said.
Araghchi said that what is clear in all of these happenings is the Iranian people’s resistance.
“People stood firm in all these events and refused all plots to save the country,” he said.
He concluded that there is no solution to Iran’s problems except diplomacy.
