Iran security chief meets Qatari emir in Doha

Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani has held talks with Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in the capital Doha.

The meeting took place at the Amiri Diwan palace on Wednesday during the second leg of Larijani’s regional tour, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding dialogue on regional and international developments.

The visit comes as part of a series of intensive diplomatic engagements by the Iranian official with regional leaders in recent days, focusing on enhancing cooperation and consultation on shared issues.

Larijani, who also serves as an adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, had earlier visited Muscat, where he held talks with senior Omani officials, including Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and the country’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.

Larijani, Qatar’s prime minister discuss regional developments in Doha 

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani met with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani in Doha to discuss regional developments.

The Qatari prime minister reaffirmed Doha’s support for diplomatic solutions and regional de-escalation during the meeting with Iran’s top security official, according to a statement released by the Qatari Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.

The two sides reviewed ongoing efforts to reduce tensions in the region and discussed the outcome of recent negotiations held in Muscat between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the statement said.

Sheikh Mohammed reiterated Qatar’s backing for all initiatives aimed at easing regional tensions and achieving peaceful solutions to achieve regional security and stability.

He also underscored the importance of cooperation to prevent the repercussions of escalating tensions for the peoples of the region.

Larijani also met earlier with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, during his visit.

During that meeting, Larijani and Sheikh Thani discussed “developments in the region, efforts to reduce escalation and enhance regional security,” according to a statement.
