Iran’s Foreign Minister to Leave Tehran for Geneva Today
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to leave Tehran for Geneva on Wednesday evening to take part in the third round of indirect Iran–US talks.
Araghchi will head a delegation to Geneva, Switzerland, where the third round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States will be held, mediated by Oman.
After the 12-day war launched unprovoked by Israel and imposed on Iran by the Israeli regime, two rounds of talks were held between the two countries: one in Oman and the other in Geneva, both mediated by Oman.
The third round is more sensitive because it is happening amid a massive US military build-up in the Middle East.
US President Donald Trump, in his annual State of the Union speech on Tuesday, said that Iran must not build a nuclear bomb, BBC World reported.
Iran has repeatedly emphasized the peaceful nature of its nuclear program and said that the country is not pursuing nuclear weapons.
Inside the US, some analysts and military personnel, including Gen. Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, have also warned about the consequences of a war against Iran.
