In response to the U.S.-Israeli attack on the Dena corvette, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi wrote on X that the U.S. has caused another disaster, this time at sea, 2,000 miles away from Iran’s coasts.

Avash News: He stated that the corvette Dena, a guest of the Indian Navy and carrying approximately 130 crew members, was targeted in international waters without any warning. Addressing the U.S., Araqchi said: “You will see that the United States will deeply regret the precedent it has created.”
On Wednesday morning, the Sri Lankan Navy reported that the Dena had sunk in the Indian Ocean and that around 140 of its crew were missing.
Adding further perspective, the former Indian Foreign Minister, who oversaw the exercise, described the attack as a “cowardly act”:
• “If we had not invited the Iranian ship to participate in the MILAN exercise, it would not have been there.”
• “We were the hosts.”
• “I was informed that according to the exercise protocol, ships were not allowed to carry any weapons. The exercise was unarmed and defenseless.”
• “Iranian Navy personnel had marched in front of our President during the ceremony.”
• “The U.S. submarine attack was premeditated, as the United States was aware of the Iranian ship’s presence in an exercise to which the U.S. Navy had been invited, but likely withdrew at the last moment considering this operation.”
• “The United States ignored India’s sensitivities, as the ship was present in these waters solely because of India’s invitation.”
• “We are not politically or militarily responsible for the U.S. attack.”
• “Our responsibility is moral and humanitarian.”
• “Condolences from the Indian Navy will be appropriate for the loss of lives of those who were invited and paid respects to our President.”
