Pirhossein Kolivand, outlining the latest situation in the affected areas, stated that reports received from various provinces indicate that in recent days parts of the country’s civilian infrastructure—including residential areas, medical centers, schools, relief centers, and some urban facilities—have sustained damage.
He added that according to preliminary assessments, 19,734 civilian units across the country have been damaged. Of these, 16,191 are residential units and 3,384 are commercial units. In addition, 77 pharmaceutical and medical centers and 69 schools are among the facilities that have been damaged.
Referring to the rapid response of the Red Crescent relief teams—who arrived at incident sites in less than four minutes—Kolivand said that a significant number of the injured have been rescued from under the rubble and transferred to medical centers by rescue teams.
He further noted that children under the age of 12 and women are among the victims, indicating the broad impact of these incidents on the civilian population.
The head of the Red Crescent also pointed to damage to relief infrastructure, stating that in some areas 13 Red Crescent centers and branches, along with several rescue bases, have been damaged. During relief operations, seven relief workers were injured, and one Red Crescent rescuer was killed in the line of duty.
He emphasized that Red Crescent rescue teams, ambulances, and operational vehicles are currently providing round-the-clock services throughout the affected areas. Relief efforts—including search and rescue operations, the transfer of the injured, emergency sheltering, and the distribution of essential supplies—are ongoing.
In conclusion, the head of the Iranian Red Crescent expressed appreciation for the efforts of the organization’s relief workers, rescuers, and volunteers, stating that the Red Crescent is standing by the people with its full operational capacity and will continue relief operations and support for those affected until conditions return to stability.
