President Masoud Pezeshkian has harshly reacted to a 48-hour ultimatum by the US president for Iran to unblock the Strait of Hormuz, warning that Iran will firmly and decisively respond to Donald Trump's "hasty" statements and "reckless" threats.

Trump warned last night that Iran had only 48 hours to reopen the strategically-important waterway or its power plants and other critical infrastructure would come under attack.

In a post on his X network on Sunday evening, Pezeshkian rebuked Trump for his repeated anti-Iran rhetoric and outrageous statements, including his claim of wiping the Islamic Republic out of the map.

Pezeshkian said the US president’s delusion of eliminating Iran from the map is a sign of his desperation and helplessness in the face of the will of the Iranian nation.

“Threat and terror will further unify the Iranian people,” he said in the post, in reference to the US-Israeli aggression and assassination drive in the country,

Referring to the Strait of |Hormuz, the president underlined that it remained open to the ships of all countries, except those belonging to the aggressors to the Iranian soil.
