“ [Benjamin] Netanyahu gambled with American taxpayer dollars and American lives,” wrote Araghchi on his X account on Friday evening.
Araghchi added, “Having badly lost that gamble, he is now singlehandedly making sure that ordinary Americans, particularly retirees and those retiring in the next few years, will pick up the tab.”
The US and Israeli terrorist regimes started a war of choice on Iran on February 28, by assassinating the leader of the Islamic revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and bombing a school in southern Iran, killing 170 students and teachers.
Iran has been responding to the aggression by attacking US military assets in oil-rich countries of the Persian Gulf and the Israeli occupied territories. Iran has also blocked the Strait of Hormuz to oil and gas tankers affiliated with the aggressor regimes and targeted some of the tankers that ignored warnings from the Iranian forces.
The disruption of tanker traffic in the strategic waterway, lying between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, has triggered a major surge in energy prices.
On March 9, Araghchi had written that Iran does not want to harm ordinary Americans, who overwhelmingly voted for an end to costly foreign wars.
