Avash News: Based on commitments set out in the Seventh Five-Year Development Plan, 15,000 megawatts of renewable energy must be added to the country’s power generation capacity, and the president has instructed that this figure be doubled to 30,000 megawatts.
The country’s general policy is to move toward expanding solar and wind energy. A combination of wind and solar power can serve as a source of sustainable energy for the country, Darvish said.
He explained that solar energy is not effective between 6:30 a.m. and after sunset, but if it is combined with wind power plants that operate around the clock, it can create a sustainable energy source that can reduce imbalances and help address air pollution as well as land subsidence.
Darvish said that an important point in producing renewable energy is that nobody can sanction the sun or wind. Therefore, it is very unlikely that these industries will face problems.
“Iran can import solar panels and the required technologies from China based on its 25-year agreement with China. At the same time, production lines for manufacturing solar panels have been set up in the country,” Darvish said.
He noted that these production lines can generate good income for citizens investing in this field.
“The government purchases the electricity produced by these investors, and they can enter their production into the green stock market, which can be a suitable investment,” he said.
Darvish stated that it has been proven that producing 1 megawatt of electricity via solar energy is at least 40 percent cheaper than producing 1 megawatt of electricity via thermal power plants.
Darvish added that some Iranians residing abroad had previously invested in solar energy production, but are now investing in Iran because, for example, in Australia they have to pay 70 percent of their income in taxes.
The activist said that investors in the solar energy sector can recover their investment within five years, as these systems have a 25-year guarantee and produce around 20 years of net profit.
“Over the past few days, a solar panel industrial town has been established in Qazvin, and a 200-megawatt power plant has been built in Markazi Province,” Darvish said, adding that these power plants can be installed very easily, and therefore their numbers are increasing.
For the first time in Iran, the capacity of solar power generation has exceeded 5,000 megawatts, he added.
