Speaking to reporters at the UN headquarters on Tuesday, Iravani said the US naval blockade is a violation of the ceasefire, adding that the lifting of the blockade is a condition for the resumption of negotiations.
He speculated that as soon as Washington ends the naval blockade, the next round of negotiations can be held in Islamabad.
Iravani stressed that the United States initiated the war against Iran, adding that if Washington seeks to return to the negotiating table and find a political solution, “we will be ready.”
At the same time, he warned that if they want to enter a war, then Iran is also ready for that.
Asked about prospects for renewed talks, he said an opportunity must be given, adding, “We are hopeful.”
The United States and Israel launched a war of aggression against Iran on February 28, assassinating Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and several top military commanders.
On April 8, after 40 days of war, Iran and the US reached a two-week ceasefire brokered by Pakistan, followed by negotiations to permanently end the war.
