Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei says no meeting is planned between an Iranian delegation led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US representatives in Pakistan.

Baqaei made the remark early Saturday as he and other Iranian delegates arrived in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad.

“We arrive in Islamabad, Pakistan, for an official visit. FM Araghchi will be meeting with Pakistani high-level officials in concert with their ongoing mediation and good offices for ending American imposed war of aggression and the restitution of peace in our region. No meeting is planned to take place between Iran and the US,” Baqaei wrote on X.

“Iran’s observations would be conveyed to Pakistan,” he added.

Upon arrival, Araghchi and his accompanying delegation were welcomed by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Iran’s Ambassador to Islamabad Reza Amiri Moghaddam.

From Pakistan, Araghchi will travel to Oman and then Russia for talks on regional developments in the wake of the US-Israeli war of aggression on Iran that began on February 28.

“Purpose of my visits is to closely coordinate with our partners on bilateral matters and consult on regional developments. Our neighbors are our priority,” the foreign minister said on his X account on Friday, before heading to Islamabad.
