Qalibaf made the remarks in an X post on Monday after the Israeli regime and Iran traded strikes in the worst escalation since the April truce that ended the illegal US-Zionist aggression against the Islamic Republic.
“We upended the equation of a ceasefire on paper and its repeated violation on the ground,” he said.
“So long as you lack a genuine willingness to build trust, Iran’s response will remain the same.”
On Sunday, Iran launched strikes on sensitive targets in the occupied territories in response to Israel’s repeated violations of the Tehran-Washington ceasefire that also included the cessation of hostilities in Lebanon.
Tehran said the operation came in response to Tel Aviv’s continued attacks on Lebanon, as well as Washington’s aerial assaults on southern Iran in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Israel carried out airstrikes on Iran in a flagrant breach of the truce.
Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced on Monday the suspension of retaliatory operations, warning the United States and Israel that “if aggression and mischief continue, they will be dealt with even greater intensity.”
The unjustified US-Israeli aggression on Iran began on February 28. In response, the Iranian Armed Forces targeted sensitive and strategic American and Israeli targets throughout the region and restricted transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
On April 8, forty days into the war, an Islamabad-brokered ceasefire went into effect. However, the first round of Tehran-Washington negotiations failed to reach an agreement, with the latter imposing an inhumane “naval blockade” of Iran.
The temporary Tehran-Washington truce included the cessation of hostilities between Lebanon and Israel, but the usurping regime resumed its deadly assaults.
