Iran’s FM visits memorial exhibition of Dena destroyer martyrs

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has met with Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy, and visited an exhibition displaying personal effects and memorabilia of the martyrs of the Dena destroyer.

In the visit that took place on Tuesday, Araghchi expressed appreciation for the efforts and services of the Navy’s command and personnel and toured the exhibition showcasing the remaining items belonging to the Dena martyrs.

The IRIS Dena was attacked on March 4, 2026, in international waters by a US Navy submarine while it was unarmed and returning from the multinational “Milan 2026” naval exercise in India. Over 100 Navy personnel were martyred in the attack.
Official information indicates that the vessel was not engaged in any operational or combat mission at the time and had been deployed to India as part of a naval training and military diplomacy group.
